“We can forget who
we are with one phone call… The breakthrough is inside of us. What gets in the way
is our brain.”
–Dan Bohi
Know Your Identity
In
Sunday’s sermon Brother Dan noted that the crisis in the American church is
that we often live as if we have forgotten our identity. Jesus never failed in
ministry because He never forgot who He was. He had no question of His
assignment and why He was sent to the earth.
Do you know why God
has you on the earth? Do you know your assignment?
Stay Focused On
Your Identity
Brother
Dan referred to the account of Jairus, a man who was distressed because of his
daughter’s illness (Luke 8:40-56). In the face of the report of the girl’s
death, Jesus encouraged Jairus with these words: “Don’t be afraid. Just believe, and she will be healed.” (Luke
8:50) In other words, Jesus didn’t get caught up in the bad report. Jesus was
caught up in His identity and His assignment, and He instructed Jairus to focus
on His word of healing instead of being distracted by the report of men.
Even if a bad
report is accurate, we as Christians are called to keep our focus on our
glorious Savior.
My
prayer for us today is that we, like Jesus, will remain firmly planted in the
ways of the kingdom of God. Will trials and challenges come? Yes. Will we receive
bad reports? Certainly. But we are free
to choose where our focus will be.
Look
to the Lord. Praise Him. Thank Him. Hear Him. Trust Him. Obey Him.
